About this site

Lower Liston Farm Certificated Location, recorded in some listings as Lower Liston Caravan Park, is a five van adults only CL on a working farm at Semley Hollow, two miles from Shaftesbury in north Dorset. It sits down a private drive off the A350, behind an automatic security gate and beyond a small commercial park (Five Oaks Caravan Park), in organic hay meadows with mature trees and uninterrupted views up the valley. Shaftesbury, with Gold Hill and the ruins of its Saxon abbey, is about two miles away, Gillingham station is within five miles, and Stourhead, Longleat, Wardour Castle and Stonehenge all fall inside a thirty minute drive. All five pitches are hardstanding and enhanced, with individual water, grey waste disposal, a TV aerial point, pay as you go electric hook up and free wifi, backed by solo shower and toilet rooms, a laundry, an information room and recycling. This is a grown ups site, plainly. Children are not accepted, tents are not taken, and commercial vehicles and vans are turned away, so it suits couples touring in a caravan or motorhome who want quiet and a footpath from the gate. Dogs are welcome at £1 a night, with a fenced exercise paddock. Lower Liston Farm opens 1 April to 1 September and a fully serviced pitch is from £29 a night for two adults.

Good to know

Is Lower Liston Farm adults only?
Yes, the CL operates a strict adults only policy and children are not accepted. The Caravan and Motorhome Club listing tags it for adults, peaceful stays and scenic views, and the owner repeats the adults only rule on the site's own website. If you are travelling with children, look elsewhere.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are welcome at £1 a night each. There is a fenced exercise paddock where they can run free, but owners are asked not to let them roam loose around the pitches. A footpath leads from the site to a network of walks with dog friendly country pubs along the way.
Can I bring a tent?
No, this is a Certificated Location for caravans and motorhomes only, with five hardstanding enhanced pitches. The owner also declines commercial vehicles and vans, so if you are touring in anything other than a standard car or 4x4 you should ring before booking, as the deposit is non refundable.
Is there electric hook up?
Yes, every pitch has electric hook up, charged on a pay as you go basis at 16 amps rather than bundled into the pitch fee. Unused electric is refunded on departure. Pitches also come with individual water, grey waste disposal, a TV aerial point and free wifi.
When is Lower Liston Farm open and what does it cost?
The Caravan and Motorhome Club lists the CL as open from 1 April to 1 September. A fully serviced pitch is from £29 a night for two adults with a unit and car, extra adults £4, dogs £1 and awnings free. A £29 non refundable deposit secures a reservation.
How far is Shaftesbury?
Shaftesbury is about two miles from the CL, with Gold Hill and the Saxon abbey ruins to walk round and a bus service from the town to Motcombe. Gillingham railway station is within five miles, and the site is reached down a private drive visible from the A350.
