Why campers love it here
About this site
Lydford Caravan and Camping Park is a family-run touring and camping park on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park, with a separate tent area that looks out over open moorland. The park sits in the historic village of Lydford in west Devon, roughly 9 miles from Okehampton and a short drive from Tavistock, close enough to the Cornish border to reach both of Devon's coasts. It takes caravans, motorhomes, campervans and folding campers (up to 8.5m shipping length) on hard standing or grass pitches with electric hook-up, plus grass tent pitches with those Dartmoor views. Families and dogs are welcome, and the layout suits people after a quiet moorland base rather than an entertainment-heavy holiday park, so there is no bar, pool or clubhouse. What stands out is the walking on the doorstep: the National Trust's Lydford Gorge, the deepest gorge in the south west, is a short stroll away, and the traffic-free Granite Way cycle route runs nearby toward Okehampton. A bus stop 100m from the entrance serves Tavistock and Okehampton. Lydford Caravan and Camping Park opens for the main season from mid-March to the end of October, with bookings taken online through the operator.
