About this site

Michelcombe Farm Campsite, which trades as Dartmoor Shepherds Huts, is a back-to-basics tent and glamping site at Higher Michelcombe Farm, just outside the moorland village of Holne within Dartmoor National Park in Devon. The campsite has around 15 marked tent pitches spread along a central stream, each with plenty of room for a decent tent and one car, and every pitch comes with its own fire pit, with logs sold on site. For a bit more comfort there are three traditional shepherd's huts, plus two larger year-round huts, the Foxglove and Huck's Cabin, which have private facilities and log burners. A brand-new toilet, shower and utility block sits a short walk from the pitches. Michelcombe Farm Campsite is not suitable for motorhomes or caravans, so it suits tent campers and glampers wanting a genuine Dartmoor experience rather than tourers. Dogs are allowed, with respectful ownership expected on a working farm. There is direct access onto Holne Moor for walks, the River Dart is close for wild swimming, and electric mountain bikes are available to hire. Camping pitches start from £18 a night based on two people. For firelit nights on the edge of the moor near Holne, this is a lovely Devon find.
