Why campers love it here
About this site
Moonfleet Farm Campsite is a working sheep farm at Higher Ansty near Dorchester, offering quiet touring and tent pitches with long views across the Blackmore Vale. The site sits inland in rolling Dorset countryside, with the village pub and shop, the Fox Inn, reachable on foot about 400 metres along a footpath from the farm. Level pitches measure around 7m by 22m and suit campervans, trailers and tents, with 8 and 16 amp electric hook-ups, a heated shower and washroom block, on-site laundry, free Wi-Fi and electric vehicle charging. The owners keep the feel relaxed and rural, and reviewers regularly praise the friendly welcome, the clean facilities and the space to spread out. Fire baskets and firewood are provided, so evenings around the fire are easy to arrange, and the farm's four acres of Orchard Ponds are open for day and weekly fishing. Each pitch takes two adults and up to four children, dogs are welcome when tethered or supervised, and this is a genuine farm rather than a facility-packed park, so anyone wanting a big holiday complex should look elsewhere. Glamping shepherd's huts sleep two to four from £80 a night, and a self-catering holiday cottage is available too. The Moonfleet Farm campsite is open from 1 April to 30 September, with pitch rates set out on the operator's tariff page.
