Moreton Gardens Camp Site

Moreton Gardens Camp Site is a tents only campsite in parkland on the edge of the River Frome at Moreton, a Dorset village best known as the burial place of T E Lawrence. Treat this listing with caution: the campsite's own website is no longer online (the domain has no DNS record at all), and the last camping information it published dates from 2010. At that point the site offered large 10 metre by 10 metre level pitches beside its own plant centre, animal park and 3.5 acres of gardens, with free entry to those for campers. Facilities were deliberately simple: flushing toilets, constant hot water showers, water standpipes and a washing up area, with no electric hook up and no chemical waste disposal, which ruled out most caravans and motorhomes. It was aimed at families and couples rather than large groups, the play area suited under 10s, and dogs were welcome on short leads. Moreton sits inland on the edge of the Purbeck area, about 6 miles from the coast at Ringstead Bay and Lulworth Cove, with Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Lulworth Castle all a short drive away, and Moreton has a railway station on the line between Dorchester and Wareham.
