Why campers love it here
About this site
Ocean Pitch Campsite is a small, family-run site right above Croyde Bay in North Devon, roughly fifty yards from what many rate as the finest surf beach in the region. Formerly known as Mitchums Campsite, it has rebranded as Ocean Pitch and leans fully into its location: the sand and the waves are a two-minute walk away, and Croyde village is five to ten minutes on foot. Ocean Pitch takes tents, campervans and small motorhomes across a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches, with electric hook-up an option; touring caravans are not accepted, so plan accordingly. This one is aimed squarely at surfers and beach-focused campers rather than anyone after a big park with lots of on-site entertainment. Surf hire is available on site, with boards, bodyboards and wetsuits by the day, and Biffen's Kitchen serves street food in season, so you can roll off the beach and straight to dinner. Free WiFi, warm showers, chemical waste disposal for campervans and friendly round-the-clock staff round out the practical side. Ocean Pitch was runner-up for Best Coastal Campsite at the 2025 Camping and Glamping Awards, which tells you what to expect. Ocean Pitch Campsite is a summer-season site in a prime spot; book well ahead for the school holidays, as demand for Croyde is high.
