About this site

Osho Leela, now trading as The Leela Centre, is a personal development community and events venue at Thorngrove House near Gillingham in north Dorset, with camping and glamping attached to its event programme rather than sold as a standalone holiday. That distinction matters before you book: pitches and beds go to people attending a workshop, retreat or festival, or staying as a volunteer or on the live-in Buddhafield programme, so you cannot simply turn up for a quiet weekend away. The site sits on Common Mead Lane, roughly three quarters of a mile off the B3081 on the edge of Gillingham, with Gillingham station a five minute taxi ride away and Shaftesbury 5 miles off. Campers choose between car park pitches and green pitches, each available with or without electric hook-up, and campervans and motorhomes are welcome on the same terms. Glamping runs from standard and deluxe bell tents to shepherd's huts and insulated pods on the camping field, while dorm beds and rooms in the main house cover anyone who wants walls. Dogs are not permitted, guide dogs excepted, which rules out a fair few campers. What stands out is everything around the field: a dining hall, tea stations, meditation spaces, a sauna and shared evening gatherings. Camping at The Leela Centre starts from £2.50 a night for a car park pitch and £10 for a green pitch, booked in advance alongside your event.
