About this site

Roebuck Farm Campsite is a tent field on a working farm at Highwood, East Stoke, sitting in open countryside between Wool and Wareham inside a Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A warning belongs at the top: the farm's old web address stopped resolving some time ago, and the newest camping details anyone published run to the 2012 season, so ring ahead on the last known number before you load the car. What the farm itself set out was six acres of ground, mostly level with a gentle slope, kept rural and screened, open only across high summer instead of year round. Pitches took tents. Nobody was offered a hardstanding, a hook up or a cabaret, and that was rather the point. Washing meant showers and toilets, with a chemical disposal point on hand. The farm butchery ran a small shop selling its own meat and barbecue kit, and hot food or a barbecue appeared most evenings. Wool station is five minutes by car, Lulworth Castle lies three and a half miles off, and Bovington sits nearby, with another farm shop at East Holme barely five minutes away. Roebuck Farm suits campers who like a field, livestock and quiet, and nobody else.

Good to know

What is the current status of Roebuck Farm Campsite?
This is unconfirmed. The farm's own website is no longer online and the last camping details it published cover the 2012 season. It also does not appear on Dorset Council's register of licensed caravan and camping sites, although that register omits other known local sites. Contact the farm directly before travelling.
Can I take a caravan or motorhome to Roebuck Farm Campsite?
No, the farm's own pages advertised tented camping on 6 acres of level and gently sloping ground, and no touring pitches, hard standings or electric hook ups were listed. A chemical disposal point was provided. This information dates from 2012, so anyone touring should confirm directly with the farm.
Is there electric hook up at Roebuck Farm Campsite?
No, the farm's published facility list covered showers, toilets and a chemical disposal point only, with no mention of electric hook up. Campers should expect to be self sufficient for power. These details date from 2012 and the site's website has since gone offline, so confirm before you book.
What is there to do near Roebuck Farm Campsite?
The farm is about 3.5 miles from Lulworth Castle and around 5 minutes by car from Wool railway station, which runs into Weymouth. Monkey World, the Tank Museum at Bovington, the Jurassic Coast and the historic town of Wareham are all close, and there is a farm shop at East Holme.
Did Roebuck Farm Campsite have a shop?
Yes, the farm ran a basic shop selling meat and barbecue supplies reared and produced on the farm itself, and it offered hot food or barbecue style cooking most evenings. This dates from the 2012 season and the website has since gone offline, so it needs confirming directly with the farm.
