About this site

Sun Haven Holiday Park is a 14 acre holiday park in Mawgan Porth on the north Cornwall coast, with a woodland walk down to the beach and no camping: tents, tourers and motorhomes are no longer taken, so this is a holiday park stay rather than a campsite. Formerly the family-run Sun Haven Valley Country Holiday Park, it is now operated by Lovat Parks, and the old touring field has given way to holiday homes in five grades (Standard to Premium), two and three bedroom Exclusive lodges, and shepherd's huts with hot tubs. The park sits in the River Menalhyl valley, a 15 minute stroll through the woods from Mawgan Porth's sandy, dog friendly beach, with Newquay 5 miles away and Padstow a 15 minute drive. It suits families and couples: all adult groups and bookings from anyone under 21 are refused, and campers wanting a pitch must look elsewhere in Cornwall. Dogs are properly looked after, with pet friendly units (£50 per stay for up to two dogs), a dog snack bar, a washing station and a doggy welcome pack. The free borrows stand out too, from wooden belly boards to a full beach toy library, and the Fig Tree coffee shop and bakery opened on site for 2026. The park is open from mid February to the start of January, with prices quoted through Lovat Parks' online booking system.

Good to know

Can I camp or bring a touring caravan to Sun Haven Holiday Park?
No, the park stopped taking tents, touring caravans and motorhomes after Lovat Parks took over, and the 2026 park is holiday homes, lodges and shepherd's huts only. Within the Lovat Parks group, touring and camping pitches are only available at Waxham Sands Holiday Park in Norfolk.
Are dogs allowed at Sun Haven Holiday Park?
Yes, up to two dogs per booking stay in designated pet friendly accommodation for £50 per stay. Every dog gets a welcome pack, and the park has a dog snack bar, feeding bowls, a dog washing station and a 15 minute woodland walk to dog friendly Mawgan Porth beach.
How far is Sun Haven Holiday Park from the beach?
Mawgan Porth beach is a 15 minute walk from the park through the River Menalhyl woodland, crossing the stream at the bottom of the site. You can hire a beach trolley for your kit, and the park lends wooden belly boards and beach toys free through its borrows scheme.
When is Sun Haven Holiday Park open in 2026?
Sun Haven Holiday Park is open from mid February to the start of January, so it closes for only a few weeks each winter. Holiday home and glamping arrivals run on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays for stays of 3 to 14 nights, with check in from 3pm or 4pm.
Are campfires or BBQs allowed at Sun Haven Holiday Park?
No, fires, firepits and fireworks are banned across all Lovat Parks sites, including Sun Haven. Gas and charcoal barbecues are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground, and Mawgan Porth's pubs, including the Merrymoor Inn by the beach, cover the nights you don't cook.
How much does a stay at Sun Haven Holiday Park cost?
Prices vary by accommodation grade, date and duration, and are quoted through Lovat Parks' online booking system rather than published as a fixed nightly rate. A £50 deposit per holiday home secures a booking made more than 8 weeks ahead, with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival.
