Why campers love it here
About this site
The Dorset Hideaway is a small, family-run touring, camping and glamping site on family farmland near Whitchurch Canonicorum in West Dorset, close to the Jurassic Coast. Camping and touring pitches sit in a large open field with room for children to play, and choices run from non-electric grass to fully serviced hardstanding, plus grass pitches that come with a bench and fire pit. Glamping is a separate adults-only area with geodesic domes, yurts and a cabin, each with a hot tub. Charmouth and its fossil beach are 3 miles away, Felicities Farm Shop at Morcombelake is 2 miles off, and Bridport is the nearest large town for supermarkets and fuel. The lanes in are narrow and hilly, so the approach needs planning if you are towing, and there is no public transport to the gate. The site suits families and couples who want quiet countryside, dark skies and clean, award-winning shower blocks, with dogs welcome on the camping pitches (two per pitch) but not in the glamping units. Fire pits and logs can be hired, and there is a games barn, fishing ponds, tractor rides in high season and an on-site spa. Touring and camping pitches start from £20 a night, and glamping domes start from £145 a night. The Dorset Hideaway keeps hardstanding pitches and glamping open across the year.
