About this site

The Plough at Manston Certificated Location is a small touring and camping site set in the grounds of a traditional 18th century village pub at Manston, near Sturminster Newton in North Dorset. Manston lies about two miles north of Sturminster Newton and around six miles south of Shaftesbury, in the quiet farmland of the Blackmore Vale, with the Dorset Downs and Cranborne Chase within reach for walking and cycling. As a Certificated Location the site takes a small number of tents, touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans, and electric hook-up is available. There are no toilet or shower facilities on site, so it suits self-contained tourers and campers who do not need a facilities block, rather than families wanting a full-service park. Club membership is required to stay. What sets it apart is the pub on your doorstep: The Plough serves real ales, ciders, wines and home-cooked food, with a full lunch and dinner menu from Tuesday to Sunday and a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. Roasts are served on Sundays. Book your pitch directly with The Plough by phone, as nightly prices are not listed online.

Good to know

Do I need to be a club member to stay?
Yes, this is a Certificated Location, so you need to be a member of the relevant caravan and camping club to book a pitch. Certificated Locations are small, member-only sites attached to venues such as pubs and farms, and membership is quick to arrange before you travel.
Are dogs allowed at the site?
Yes, dogs are welcome at The Plough at Manston Certificated Location. As the pitches sit in the grounds of a working village pub with a garden and nearby lanes, keep dogs under control, and you can pop into the pub before or after a walk in the surrounding Blackmore Vale countryside.
Is there electric hook-up?
Yes, electric hook-up is available on the pitches at The Plough at Manston. The site is set up for self-contained tourers and campervans, so bring your own leads and connectors, and check the current number of hook-up pitches with the pub when you book by phone.
Are there toilets and showers on site?
No, there are no toilet or shower facilities at this Certificated Location. It is designed for self-contained caravans, motorhomes and campervans with their own washing and toilet facilities, along with campers happy to manage without a facilities block, rather than for a full-service holiday park stay.
Can I get food and drink on site?
Yes, the pitches are in the grounds of The Plough pub, which serves real ales, ciders, wines and home-cooked food. The full lunch and dinner menu runs from Tuesday to Sunday, with a traditional roast added on Sundays, and there is a wood burning stove for cooler evenings.
How do I book and what does it cost?
Book directly with The Plough at Manston by phone on 07783 009402. Nightly pitch prices are not published on the pub website, so call ahead to check availability, current rates and arrival details before you set off for Manston, near Sturminster Newton.
