About this site

Bring a battery and gas to Trill House Certificated Site, because mains power is not on offer here. The site occupies grass at Thornford, in the Blackmore Vale countryside of north west Dorset, sitting between Thornford itself and Yetminster, about 4 miles south west of Sherborne with its abbey and castles and roughly 3 miles south east of Yeovil. Tents, touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans are all accommodated, and both dogs and children are welcome. The Camping and Caravanning Club governs the site under its Certificated Site rules, which cap such places at 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 tents and restrict them to Club members. Read that as a quiet rural base for Sherborne and the Dorset lanes: large groups, non members and anyone counting on a shop or a bar within walking distance are not what Trill House is for. Neither prices nor current opening dates appear anywhere we could find, so the telephone is the only route in. Ring 01935 872305 to confirm the site is taking bookings and to agree a price before you travel.

Good to know

Do you have to be a club member to stay at Trill House Certificated Site?
Yes, Trill House is a Certificated Site, so it is open only to Camping and Caravanning Club members. The Club limits Certificated Sites to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 tents at any one time, which keeps things peaceful but means non members need to join before they can book.
Is there electric hook-up at Trill House?
No, there is no electric hook-up at Trill House, so all pitches are grass without mains power. Arrive with a charged leisure battery and gas for cooking, or choose a site with hook-up if you rely on mains. Confirm the current setup with the owner on 01935 872305.
Are dogs welcome at Trill House near Yetminster?
Yes, dogs are welcome at Trill House, and the lanes and footpaths around Thornford and Yetminster give you somewhere to walk them. This is farming country, so keep dogs on a lead near livestock. Check how many dogs are allowed per pitch with the owner when you book.
Is Trill House open all year?
Our records show Trill House as open all year, but the site does not publish its season or prices online and we could not find a current Camping and Caravanning Club listing for it. Ring 01935 872305 before you travel to confirm it is taking bookings and to get a price.
How far is Trill House from Sherborne?
Sherborne is about 4 miles north east of the site, with its abbey, old and new castles and a decent run of shops and pubs. Yeovil is roughly 3 miles north west for supermarkets and the railway, and Yetminster village sits within easy walking distance of the campsite.
