Bournemouth is 15 miles to the south. It has a long sandy beach and large public gardens. The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum was built as a Victorian museum. Wimborne Minster Model Town and Gardens is an exact replica of its namesake town in the 1950s. Walford Mill Craft Centre is a converted mill. It has an exhibition gallery that includes craftwork for sale. The Dorset Heavy Horse Centre and Farm Park is a good day out for the family. White Mill, a corn mill, has a rat trail for children and is managed by the National Trust. Holt Heath is a National Nature Reserve, one of Dorset's largest remaining areas of lowland heathland.
