West Lea Certificated Site

The Camping and Caravanning Club files West Lea Certificated Site under Hideaway, and three level acres at West Dairy Farm in the hamlet of Seaborough bear the label out. Seaborough lies roughly four miles north west of Beaminster in west Dorset, in a sheltered valley on the upper reaches of the River Axe with the Somerset border close at hand. Certificated Site limits apply, capping the ground at five caravans or motorhomes plus ten tents or trailer tents, which is why the quiet here is structural rather than a matter of luck, and Club membership is a condition of booking. Choice of pitch is wide for somewhere this size: grass with electric hook up or without, hardstanding either way, and larger unit versions of the grass options. Rooftop tents may be used. The washing arrangements are substantial rather than token, running to flushing toilets, showers, a family shower room, dedicated accessible facilities, washbasins, dishwashing and ice pack freezing, with a designated dog walk and space for ball games besides. Fishing is possible if you hold a licence. Shops, bars and evening entertainment are absent, this being farmland in Dorset rather than a resort. West Lea opens all year, member prices begin at £15 a night for a unit with two adults and two children, and the Club advises booking ahead.
